Pressure-sensitive label detachment can be addressed from the following aspects:
Selection Stage
Choose high-quality products: Select pressure-sensitive labels with reliable adhesive strength and durability. Products from reputable brands or those with positive reviews often feature more dependable adhesive formulations and manufacturing processes, effectively reducing the risk of detachment.
Pre-application Preparation
Clean the application surface: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of oil, dust, or other contaminants. Wipe with a clean damp cloth and then dry with a dry cloth to ensure better adhesion and prevent poor bonding due to uneven or dirty surfaces.
Control environmental temperature and humidity: Apply labels in an environment with a temperature of 18–25°C and relative humidity of 40%–60%. Extreme temperatures or humidity levels can affect adhesive performance. For example, in cold weather, allow labels to acclimate to room temperature before application.
Application Process
Correct application technique:
Apply the label slowly and evenly to the target surface. Use a soft cloth or squeegee to gently smooth from the center outward to remove air bubbles and avoid wrinkles that may compromise adhesion.
For larger labels, coordinate with multiple people to ensure one-time application, avoiding repeated repositioning that may reduce adhesive effectiveness.
Post-application Handling
Apply adequate pressure: After application, use a book or tool to apply even pressure, increasing contact area and bonding strength to help the adhesive perform optimally.
Special Scenario Solutions
Long-term outdoor use: For labels exposed to outdoor conditions, choose materials and adhesives with enhanced weather resistance, such as PET labels with outdoor-specific adhesives, to withstand rain, wind, UV exposure, and reduce detachment risks.
High-moisture or oily environments: In humid or greasy conditions, pre-treat the surface—for example, clean oily areas with a degreaser before application. In high-moisture environments, opt for waterproof and moisture-resistant pressure-sensitive labels.
